(TORONTO, Ont.) Dawn Sweeney, the President & CEO of the National Restaurant Association, issued the following statement today at the outset of the Winter 2010 meetings of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association in Toronto.
“The National Restaurant Association, on behalf of nearly 1 million restaurants and 13 million employees in the United States, is delighted to join the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association at its annual board meeting and show.
“During these challenging economic times, restaurants – many of which are small businesses – face similar challenges on either side of the border. We need to work together to create a legislative, regulatory and economic environment in which our industry can thrive.
“As consumer interest in health and well-being increases, the restaurant industry is taking steps to be part of the solution, especially in the area of childhood health. We look forward to working together to advance voluntary, practical solutions to this issue while protecting consumer choice, the health and vitality of all our people, and the economies of Canada and the United States.”
